Thailand Bike Ride
10 DAY 9 NIGHT TRIP

Northern Thailand, a
joyful land of smiling faces, warm hospitality, ancient temples,
elephants, exotic hill tribes and luxuriant tropical jungles.
ITINERARY:
Day 1- Sat 15: Bangkok
- Chiang mai Ride 20-30 Km
Pick up from the
Chiang mai Airport then transfer to check in at the hotel. Late
afternoon warm up cycling along the main river of the North, “Ping”
to “Ban Tawai” a famous woodcarving village of Chiang mai.

Chiang Mai Plaza

Day 2–
Sun 16: Chiang mai – Chiang Dao Ride
80-100 Km
After
breakfast we will ride on road follow along the main river of the North,
“Mae
Nam Ping”
past temples, flower plantations, vegetable gardens and rice fields
through agricultural villages of Chiang Dao. See many kind of daily
working of local people work in the rice fields or in fruit orchards
along the roadside so we can stop en route to taste its fresh fruit.
Today we will ride to Chiang Dao town with its famous for traditional
teak buildings along the main street. This town was founded in the 18th
century as a place of exile for phi pop (spirit people), who were
suspected of being possessed by evil spirits.

Day 3 – Mon 17:
Chiang Dao – Tha ton
Ride 80-100 Km
Ride on scenic back
road from Chiang Dao past agricultural villages, rice fields and fruit
orchards to Tha ton, a Chiang Mai’s northern most villages and a place
where the Kok River flows to Chiang Rai town. Here, you can observe the
simple, traditional but splendid riverside lifestyle of the hill tribe
villages. Late evening is a free time to observe a beautiful view of Tha
ton in charming hill top temple “Wat Tha Ton” where
it famous teaching mediation for foreigner and school for monks, novices
and youths as well as a drug rehabilitation center and a hill tribe
support unit.

Day 4- Tue 18: Tha ton
– Golden Triangle Ride 80-100 Km
Today we ride on
scenic back border road of Thailand and Laos that parallel to the
“Mekong River” (This 4,590 Km long river flows from China pass
Thailand, Laos, Cambodia through the China Sea of Vietnam) past “Sop
Ruak” where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos converge through
the notorious “Golden Triangle”, a famed border where
Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet and it was once supposed to be the
center of all the poppy cultivation in Thailand.

Day 5 – Wed 19: Golden Triangle – Chiang Saen - Chiang rai
Ride 70-90 km
Continue cycling on scenic back border road of Thailand and Laos that
follow along the Mekong River. Stop en route to admire stunning view
points of the river before ride to the historical towns of Chiang Saen,
one of the oldest towns in Thailand set beautifully on the bank of the
Mekong River which was founded in 1328 by Saenphu as a powerful
fortification with many temples. After visit “Wat Chedi Luang”,
the largest temple in Chiang Saen which is famous for its classic Chiang
Saen octagonal Chedi then continue cycling to Chiang rai town on road
that is past the cultivation area for the famous Chiang rai
“Nanglae” Pineapple and Chiang rai “Phulae”
Pineapple which its taste is difference from the other pineapple in
Thailand. Stop en route to taste fresh two famous pineapples of Chiang
rai and get to know more about its characteristics. After dinner you
can walk to wonder around a famous night bazaar of Chiang rai which is
sites near by the hotel.

Day 6
– Thu 20: Chiang rai– Phayao Ride
60-80 km
After
breakfast, we will ride on scenic road past golden rice fields of Chiang
rai to peaceful town of Phayao. Today our cycling route will past
beautiful temples built in Lanna style (12th – 14th
centuries) and farmer communities where we can stop en route to chat
with local farmer to know more about rice cultivation and theirs local
wisdom of plantation. Late afternoon is your free time to wonder around
the older part of Phayao town which you will walk in narrow streets to
view its unit style of old teak houses, open market and admire a
beautiful view of sunset above an extensively fresh-water lake,
“Kwan Phayao”, the largest fresh-water fish habitat in the upper
North which provides the livelihood of many of the local people and
recreation sites for local people

Day 7 – Fri 21: Phayao–
Lampang Ride 80-100 km
Today we will ride in scenic back road surrounding among
stunning view of valleys, hills, and
mountains topography of Phayao to rice
fields of Wang River basin in “Lampang”, the second
largest town in Northern Thailand that offers much of the historic
interest of Chiang mai, but without the overt commercialization and a
good base for excursions and travel within Northern Thailand. Cycling
route today is passed stunning view points where you can stop to admire
a beautiful nature of the North. Late afternoon is your free time to
relax in hotel swimming pool OR traditional Thai Massage (optional not
include in tour price)

Day 8 – Sat 22:
Lampang–San Kamphaeng Ride 60-80 km
This morning we will
ride to visit “Wat Phra That Lampang Luang”, one of
the most attractive and finest temples in the North that were
constructed in the late 15th century and well known for its
large pagoda which towers above the surrounding trees, and its
exquisite interior decoration. After that we will ride up- down hill
past teak forest to the Thung Kwain forest park to visit the”Young
Elephant Training Centre” where its serve for many
functions that involve about elephant as: a training school for elephant
aged three to five years for timber work; a residence place of royal
white elephant of Thailand present King and an elephant hospital for
help elephant whom that have got a serious injured or ill-treatment.
After that we continue cycling to “San Kamphaeng Hot Springs”
that its water is high in sulphur content and possesses curative and
restorative properties. Free time to refreshment yourself by mineral hot
water bathing.

Day 9 – Sun 23: San
Kam Phaeng– Chiang mai
Ride 40-60 km
Today we will ride to
Chiang Mai town including a time to visit at a famous handicraft
village of Chiang Mai, “Bo Sang Village” where its famous
for an identity handmade and “San Kam Phaeng” where
you can find many kinds of local products as; silk fabrics and cotton
products, woodcarving, silverware, earth ware, lacquer ware and handmade
umbrellas. For lunch we will taste many kinds of real Northern food at
local famous restaurant for you get to know more about Local Thai Lanna
Food Arts. Late afternoon, we travel by van to visit the mountain top
temple of “Wat Phra That Doi Suthep”, the 14thcentury
temple and one of a must place to visit in Chiang Mai. Tonight after
dinner you can walk to visit a famous night market of Chiang mai,
“night bazaar”.

Day 10 – Mon 24:
Chiang mai
After
breakfast is your free time to take a rest before travel to the Chiang
mai airport for fly back to Bangkok. End of service at the Chiang mai
Airport.
